Dr. Dino Villegas, is a Marketing Professor and Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs at the Rawls College of Business, Texas Tech University. With a Ph.D. in Management and a Master’s in Communication, Dr. Villegas has dedicated almost two years to educating future leaders in the dynamic fields of marketing and business, bridging the gap between traditional marketing practices and the future of business.
As Associate Dean at the Rawls College of Business, he is leading efforts for comprehensive review and revitalization of the core business curriculum while also launching an ambitious Online BBA program. These efforts reflect his commitment to preparing students for the evolving demands of the global business landscape, ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge and skills to thrive in the future of business.
Has also represented the University at the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and served on multiple committees at the area, college, and university levels.
Professor Villegas has taught graduate and undergraduate courses in Marketing, Marketing Communication, Digital Marketing, Digital Marketing Analytics, Marketing and Media, Research, Entrepreneurship, Communication Strategy, Services Marketing, Sales Management, and International Marketing. In 2022 Professor Villegas was recognized with the TTU President’s Excellence in Teaching Award.
Dr. Villegas has fostered partnerships with organizations ranging from Warren Caterpillar to the Covenant Health Clinic, translating in-class marketing theories into actionable strategies with real community impact. His leadership in marketing competitions underscores the practical applicability of innovative marketing solutions.
Dr. Villegas has been published in academic journals such as the Journal of Marketing Management (JMM), Journal of Marketing Education (JME), Journal of Product and Brand Management (JPBM), is the author of the textbook “Integrated Marketing Communications” (2 editions) and has been quoted in Forbes, CMS Wire, the Daily Marketing Hub, and others. In 2018, his research was awarded Highly Commended by the Journal of Marketing Management. He is also Vice President of the Iberoamerican Communication Strategies Forum (FISEC), a research group that brings together academics from over 20 countries.
His research interest focuses on Online communities in social media, with a special interest in understanding the cultural, interaction, and symbolic elements from a brand and consumer perspective. Some of his latest research explores Hispanic Marketing, the use of Netnography, and business education.
Before joining the Raw Rawls College of Business, Dr. Dino Villegas had more than 15 years of experience as a consultant working in industries such as Mining, construction, postal services, transport, financial services, banks, retail, telecommunications, government institutions, political campaigns, and non-profit organizations.
Outside the classroom, Dr. Villegas is a family man and motocross enthusiast, embodying a spirit of adventure and continuous learning. His journey is a testament to the power of education to inspire and innovate, preparing the next generation for the future of business in an ever-changing world.
